Cricket Training

On Wednesday 20th May, Winterthur Cricket Club began cricket training after being granted permission from the Winterthur Sportamt.

Adhering to strict social distancing measures & observing their own protective guidelines and those of Cricket Switzerland, WCC organised training in groups of five.

Following the Federal Government's announcement at the end of April to allow some relaxation of the measures introduced due to the corona virus pandemic, Cricket Switzerland submitted a protective concept to BASPO which was subsequently accepted.

WCC then submitted their own concept to the Winterthur Sportamt after the Sportamt announced Deutweg was to re-open.

The WCC protective concept includes:

  • Players only meeting 10 minutes before their allocated training slot & leaving the training facilities promptly at the end.
  • Equipment is not shared and where possible players should bring their own.
  • Cricket ball is not shared without being disinfected.
  • Club kit will be distributed at the beginning of a training session & disinfected at the end of the training.
  • It is recommened to wear a bandanna or a shower cap under the helmet & wear a inners underneath the batting gloves.
  • Disinfectants/hand santisers are made available and players are recommended to bring their own.
  • Anyone showing any signs of the corona virus should stay at home

To ensure everyone read & understood the guidelines & safetly measures an 'MOU' (memorandum of understanding) had to be accepted by each participant.

Every active member received this information via email and it was made available on the website & in the club WhatsApp group.
