Mr Pickwick Pub - The place where people meet

Captain Tom started of team meeting with to reset and put some targets for batting, bowling and a game plan for the team. With clear mind and fully commitment WCC had their game face on! Tom appointed Selva G and Kasun M as the advisers to captain during this match.

Upon wining the toss Captain Tom made no mistake and elected to Bat. As usual the best couple in the team (I mean opening partners) Kasun M and Ruan K started the innings. Ruan and Kausn gave WCC a brilliant steady start exactly as per the game plan.WCC were 58 for non in first 6 overs. Ruan with his aggressive style and sensible cricket pushed the bowlers to their limits, while Kasun on the other hand showing some classic on/off drives rotating the strike to keep the scoreboard ticking. Both batsmen played sensible cricket and put up a partnership of 70 runs. Kasun (33) after playing a brilliant innings unfortunately, got run out on brilliant direct hit from deep point by Mustafa.

Ruan continued the fight and scored a half century energising Selva on the non-strikers end. Selva the man in form helped WCC by rotating strike and some lusty blows over square leg and deep mid wicket. Ruan (53) ended his brilliant innings with a nice lofted ball from Simon H. Simon making his good come back after a long break in cricket. Ruan was replaced by Pip who played after long break walked in with full confidence. Pip supported Selva how was toking the ball all over the park, both of these batsmen gave WCC the acceleration need to get closer to the 180 team target, Selva (48) unfortunately got out to a good catch from Olly at deep square leg.

WCC at this point were 133 for 2 in 15 overs. Dipi who walked in set the stage for himself and waking up the opposition with a power packed six over the deep square leg. Dipi’s inning caused Swiss airlines 3 delayed flights and 1 flight cancellation,  as none of the flights could fly over Winterthur Deutweg. Dipi and Pip took WCC across the target (180+) set by the Captain reaching a total of 200 runs in the allotted 20 overs.

WCC started their innings with Ruan and Sahan. Both bowlers balled brilliantly ! Ruan put good pressure on the batsmen, Sahan was a changed man! He was bowling some firey spells that kind of left he batsmen wonder where is the ball. While batsmen were struggling to get their bats on the ball, Winti took their first wicket came with a brilliant direct hit by Thomas M from short square leg to non strikers end. Sahan bowled out the other opening batsman, reward for his effort and new WCC jersey, stumps were all over the ground, noo it was as the before as the are fixed with metal springs.

Captain Tom bought Dipi as the first bowling change, kept his good line and length bowling as usually he does, ended up his 3 over spell for 16 runs taking 1 wicket. Suhash, recently imported star for WCC, most valuable player of the day bowled exceptionally. His natural swinging, deviation of the seam after pitching made batsmen lost their way in the middle of the ground. Suhash`s figures were read as 3 overs, 2 wickets for 6 runs including 3 wides. ZCCC were in a helpless situation at the moment, Tom bought Kasun to put more pressure, he had compete with other bowlers as all the bowlers were doing superbly, end up his 4 over spell for 14 runs taking 2 wickets.

Meanwhile Tom wanted to pull the game for a while as he didn`t want to go home early, dropped few easy catches, yeah he did it intentionally ;-) .Adam bowled well at the later part of the ZCCC inning, took 1 wicket for 13 runs. WCC fielding unit was amazing on the day lead by Pip throwing himself all around the ground. ZCCC batsmen only managed to score 78 runs got all out, which is bit above the virtual target of 75 set by Tom.

All the units played exactly according to the game plan, well executed and it was a great win for WCC for the rest of the tournament, Hope they will show their more colours in next games...
