Winterthur CC faced a challenging outing against Zurich Nomads in the Pickwick Cup T20, falling short by 125 runs at Deutweg.

After losing the toss, WCC were put into the field—and from early on, the opposition took control. Zurich Nomads posted a commanding 272/5 in their 20 overs, led by a dominant century from Osama Mahmood. While there were moments of resistance, including a strong spell from Harsha Deshan (3 wickets), the innings was defined by missed opportunities.

Dropped catches, inconsistent lines and lengths, and a lack of discipline in key phases allowed the momentum to slip away. In a format where small moments define outcomes, we allowed too many chances to go unpunished.

Chasing 273 was always going to demand something special. WCC showed glimpses of intent with contributions from Grant Cupido (37), Pio De Silva (37), and Riaz Ahmadzai (19 off 8), but the innings lacked the partnerships needed to sustain pressure. Wickets fell at regular intervals, and the chase ended at 147 in 16.4 overs.
